As a Certified Academic Language Therapist and ALTA Qualified Instructor, Diane Newton helps her clients discover their unique talents and develop their winning personality. And, she uses her passion for leadership development to assist clients in designing a plan for success.

Diane has been a specialist in dyslexia training for eighteen (18) years.

Through her firm, Leadership Designs, Diane provides individual one-on-one coaching as well as seminars, workshops and keynote presentations. Her firm also creates products to help students, parents and educators understand the challenges they face and develop concrete, results oriented strategies to maximize their potential.

Clients include business professionals and commercial organizations as well as churches, parents, students and educators — organizations of all sizes, from large corporations such as Southwestern Bell Telephone, to organizations such as independent custom home builders and private schools.

Diane was a staff member of the Learning Therapy Program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, which accredits professional training in dyslexia remediation, where she instructed the Learning Strategies and Study Skills course.

In addition, she presents study skills workshops to junior high, high school and college students, and to parents, educators and teachers.

She is a frequent speaker at international meetings of the International Dyslexia Association and other conferences and workshops across the country.

Diane has appeared on Texas cable television showing how to integrate learning strategy tools within educational settings. She has been interviewed on "The Wolf" (99.5 FM) and is a regular guest on KLUV (98.7 FM) in Dallas, Texas.

Outside of Leadership Designs, Diane is very active in the not-for-profit community. She is the past Branch Council Chair for the International Dyslexia Association and an active member of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA). She was also a founding board member of The Learning Center of North Texas in Fort Worth, a resource center providing training in Mel Levine’s School Attune program and services for children and adults with learning differences. And, she has served as past President of the Dallas Branch of International Dyslexia Association.

In January 2004, Diane assumed the position of Branch Council Chair-Elect for the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and served as Chair for 2005-2007.

She is the author of C.L.A.S.S. — Creative Leaders Applying Study Skills, a combined Student Handbook and Instructors Guide, teaching applied study skills.
